2012 NI SUMMER SERIES | ROUND FOUR
Hosted by TJSA | Saturday 12 May 2012
Harrisons Cut, 444 Papamoa Beach Road, PAPAMOA
Ø Set up any time from 8.00am
Ø Registration & scrutineering 8.30am to 9am
Ø Riders Briefing 9.00am
Ø Racing starts approx 9.30am SHARP (if you want 4 rounds!)
Ø PLEASE pre-enter ASAP – we need to be able to contact everyone right up to the day of the event in the event of cancellation – so please send your Entry Form in NOW! :o)
As discussed at Nationals, there will be NO trophies for this round as our Club needs to minimise all expenses in case we have to cancel the event due to Rena issues. If we have to cancel, we cant afford to be left holding $500-$600 worth of trophies, as well as having to absorb all other non refundable expenses. Please note that there is no debris in the water in the Mount and Papamoa, and our beaches are clean and clear and pretty much have been since October last year. The media continue to show old footage which is rather frustrating. Our marshalls will be monitoring for any debris in the water, which is extremely unlikely, however as always, it is at your own risk with regards to possible damage from racing. There are still 240 containers on board that are exposed to the ocean so anything can happen right up until the day of our event.
We have sought sponsors for each class (with only one spot left I believe) and will instead have prizes rather than trophies, and hope to also have spot prizes. If you are interested in providing a spot prize/s please contact Peter Whale 027 289 3076 or email@example.com.
There will at least three rounds hopefully four, it will be a simple track (the same as previous years), and we will combine classes wherever we can (another reason to pre-enter – to help us set the race order for back to back rides and shared skis). Surf rounds are loads of fun, but hard work on the holders and helpers if there’s good surf. We want this round to be relaxing, enjoyable, and easy. You will need two holders if the surf is up … so come prepared!
On arrival at the site, you will need to drive down to the ramp (Keep hard left) in clockwise direction, and wait for the tractor to take your trailer down on the beach so have everything you need on the trailer ready to go. There is plenty of parking in the reserve next door – so no parking @ the ramp and or on the side of the ramp road please.
Absolutely no vehicles on the beach please – this is a Council Bylaw which we must adhere to. There will be a tractor taking everyone on to the beach. It does take a little while to get you down there, but it does work well. Make sure you set up your pits area right up in the dunes as high tide is at midday and you don’t want to be relocating up the beach when the tide reaches you!
þ We will be offering a 750cc Poleski class (mainly for the Dalusion riders) and this class will run with Poleski Open.Entry fee is the same however it includes a day licence.
þ If you bring any ezy-ups or gazebos you will need large pegs to drive into the soft sand.
þ We are trying to arrange to have an on-site caterer – will advise if we find one. At this stage BYO
þ Loads of food shops, takeaways (McDs, KFC, Subway) & supermarkets at Palm Beach Plaza
þ There is only a Shell (Z) Service Station at Papamoa. There is a BP by the flyover on Maunganui Rd, a Caltex beside Bayfair on Girven Rd, and Gull on Hewletts Road also in the Mount.
Prize giving will be held at Rain Bar, Gravatt Road, Papamoa at approx 6pm. They have sponsored the room hire, have a great menu, & there will be drinks specials on the night. To help RAIN BAR cater for tables, staff and drinks, please let us know if you are coming to the prizegiving and roughly how many there will be in your team/group. There are two prize givings so be on time!
